What's Behind Door Number 3?

Wow, intense couple of weeks. I had a week long interview that seems to still be going. I had a great day at the SaberCat tryout. And my business is headed in the right direction. So what door do I walk through.

Saber Cats. Repped 19 with 225 (not bad considering I usually do like 15), Jumped somewhere around 32" vert, I think, and ran a 5.1 40. The other drill, I didn't get the times, but felt pretty good about them. After my second 40, one of the coaches approached me for my name (I guess that meant something good, idk). The last thing we did was one on ones with the D-Line, which I did well for not preparing at all, but as usual I got a small stinger from a weird hit to the neck, not ideal. Ended my day with a talk with one of the players telling me to make sure I send tape in. Should I?

Basically, I'm half in on trying to get on the Sabercats. Sacrifice pay and my well being to play football again. I love the game and wish I could continue to do it without all the issues. I think it is safe to say we can close that door.

My Business is headed in a great direction. Test site is up, going to be talking to an expert for advise on where and what should be placed on the site. Starting to think about marketing and internship programs. Had to make a couple of tough decisions, but I think there will be a great lesson at the end of it for everyone involved. I'm not prepared to mention the name just yet or what we plan to do but don't worry, the word will be out sooner than you know and you will be a part of it as much as I am now.

This Door is Wide open. I'm not going to be able to put 100% into it yet, but its there ready for me when I need too.

Door Number 3. This is an exciting door. I will be joining an organization as a Project Coordinator hopefully sooner than later. It has been an interesting interview process starting with 2 phone screens, a 1 on 1, meeting 3more people the next day, a 1 on 1 with the managers manager the following week, and lastly a 1 on 1 with the companies Director of HR. I have never been a part of an interview that long before. It is ALL good, I got the job, but havent recieved an offer. confusing but as soon as a budget is approved I start ASAP, I hope thats next week.

I find that this is a very pointless blog, so Im going to change it up next time. I'm going to discuss the randoms thoughts that I have about the world. Might be more interesting, idk.

The Crossroad

So I just lost my current job, signed up for the Sabercats tryout, incorporated a business, would like to have a more active job but am searching for another desk job. Quite the array of choices, but it's not as simple as just pointing one out or pulling a straw, each has its benefits and consequences for choosing one. Let me explain.

Obviously, loosing the job wasn't a choice, that was just decided by the folks higher up. I wasn't a "cultural". Great performance, but you just don't fit into the culture, weak reason to let a person go if you ask me. It's ok though, passed that situation. I'd rather be a part of a group that will allow me to be myself than to have to put a fake face on for the VP. So what is my culture?

I played football for almost 9 years, 4 years at the high school level and 4.5 years at the college level. I would love to put some more years in but that's a tough business to be in. I have the skill, but I'm a bit small for my position. So out of college, I went straight to a desk job. What a difference. Sit at a desk, stair at a computer screen, get a paycheck, what a life. But when things get slow, THEY GET SLOW. I had an 8 hour day that felt like a week, lost track of what day it actually was. So, while at my last job, I decided, maybe I should take step back into the other direction.

I signed up for the tryouts for the Sabercats. Turns out, you don't have to be as big and yolked as NFL lineman. But here is the issue. I spoke with a friend who gave me a little inside info. He plays for the team and told me what he makes as a player. Let's just say it isn't nearly as much as I made sitting at the desk. Ya, a little surprising, but its also about getting that second chance to show that you could be worth playing, or at least practicing at the NFL level. But, I'm not sure if I am in the right position to sacrifice salary. This isn't the only low income option.

Ya, I am currently CEO and Co-Founder of a website launching in March, But being CEO doesn't me a Millions of dollars a year... Yet. Currently, we are in the development phase of the site which is coming to an end. We will soon be getting a lot more serious marketing and reaching out to investors at the beginning of 2012. But where will I have the time for that. In order to survive in this economy, I will need a job on the side till revenues start flowing. Would love to just dedicate 100% to the site, but that's guaranteed no income for a while. So that's why I am in search of another desk job.

BUT, I want to do something I can wake up in the morning, take a deep breathe and say "I'm excited for today". I may be able to find that at a desk, but I think it is more likely to be on a field or in a gym. I want to coach young football players, be that coach that told me to start getting serious and go to camps and combines to ensure a free college future. But this is another choice that would lead to a gap in time where I wont be making money for a while.

If you got this far, thank you and good job on making it through my rambling. I hope to continue to ramble, but in the future it will be much more focus. today is the 26th of Sept, Tryouts are on the 4th of Oct., I will let you know how that goes. Tomorrow, I interview for a job that is more in line with my Desk Job career path, Ill let you know how that pans out as well. March 2012, I will be launching my creation for the world to see, I will let you know what to expect. Lastly, I will be doing this all at one time, so maybe Ill ramble about that too.

Once again, id like to thanks those who made it to the end of my first blog, hope it wasn't tooo confusing.
